MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

In order for panels, roundtables and individual proposals to be considered, your AAIS membership must be current and active

  • You must renew your AAIS membership by February 1, 2026.
  • Your Association membership will be valid until January 31, 2027. 
  • No panels will be accepted with participants who do not have active membership. 
  • All participants must register for the conference, and pay registration fees (different from membership dues). 


  • Membership renewal is available here. 
  • If your membership is lapsed, you are still allowed to login into the Member Center. Once you logged in, click on My Dues Renewal, and follow instructions on the screen (after renewing your membership, you can submit a proposal).
  • If you are new to AAIS, you can apply for membership here (then, you can submit a proposal).


AAIS 2026: Deadlines at a glance

  • November 15, 2026: open call for panels and roundtables (not pre-constituted panels or roundtables) must be posted DIRECTLY to the dedicated page on the AAIS website: please go to the Member Center and click on the Listings tab to start posting. Weekly reminders about CFPs will be sent to all members..
  • January 03, 2026: All proposals due to panel and roundtable organizers with title, brief abstract (150-200 words), and short bio.
  • February 1, 2026: All completed panels and roundtables, as well as single paper proposals, are due here.
  • February 1, 2026: All proposed Conference participants must have renewed and current, active membership (with paid membership dues).
  • March 1, 2026: Organizers will receive notification of panel acceptances.

In the Member Center, please submit the following information for each proposed panel or roundtable:

TITLE OF SESSION OR ROUNDTABLE (IN CAPS)

  • Organizer: Name, Affiliation, email address;
  • Chair (if different from Organizer): Name, Affiliation;
  • Name, Affiliation, Title of presentation in quotation marks for each session participant;
  • Name, Affiliation for each roundtable participant.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Panels and roundtables with fewer than three speakers or participants will not be accepted.
  • In proposing panels and roundtables, please include no more than two individuals from any single institution.
  • All participants in a panel or roundtable must be AAIS members by February 1, 2026. Sessions including non-members will not be included in the program.
  • Caucus meetings could be scheduled during the conference or virtually outside of conference dates.
  • Graduate students at the PhD level (not only ABD) are invited to participate. No supporting letter from the dissertation director will be required.
  • NB: A delegate may read no more than one paper, chair a panel, and participate in one roundtable.

Conference fees are based on membership type (individual or graduate student/contingent faculty or exhibitors). When available a Conference Fees page is listed under the Conference Tab on the top bar menu or on this page left hand menu.
Yes. It is mandatory for all attendees to pay the conference registration fee in order to present a paper and/or to participate in or to attend our Annual Conference.
When registration is available, a "Go to Registration" button appears on this page. Click on "Go to Registration" and on the next page, click on "Register Now" and follow instructions on the screen.
Yes. If you are a lapsed member, you can still login into your account. Proceed to renew your membership. Then, you will be allowed to register for the conference.
No. Registration and participation are reserved for members of the association in good standing.
Yes. Please click on JOIN TODAY on this page and follow instructions on the screen to join. Then, register for the conference.
An active membership is one of the requirements to present your paper. The other is to complete the conference registration by paying the conference fee. If your paper is accepted but you are not a member, please complete a membership application as well as the conference registration (fees apply).
When available, the conference program will be online under the "Conference" tab.
Yes. You can attend the conference if you are not presenting a paper or you are not speaking at a roundtable. An active membership and the payment of the conference registration fee are both required for attendees.
